Intent
To reduce loss of life, livelihood, and assets; strengthen recovery and reconstruction preparedness; build
resilience to prioritized risks ; and support the city’s long-term public health and economic vitality.

Comply with any combination of the following options for a maximum of 2 points.
Option 1. Risk Mitigation (1–2 points)
Demonstrate that risk has been reduced to at least one at-risk population, building(s), critical
infrastructure, or ecosystem identified under IPp4: Resilience Assessment by adopting any of following
the strategies for 1 point each:
a. Implement nature-based and/or engineering solutions in compliance with national, state, or local
standards to reduce at least one prioritized risk as identified under IPp4: Resilience Assessment.
b. Adopt policies on risk-informed zoning and/or limitation of construction in vulnerable zones and/or
protective setbacks.
c. Incorporate building structure resilience in building regulations to enhance the structural resilience
of new and/or existing buildings to the prioritized risks .
d. Support voluntary relocation of at-risk population and/or critical infrastructure away from hazard prone zones. Ensure adequate infrastructure in destination areas to support relocated
populations.
