PATH 2: PRESCRIPTIVE PATHWAY (1 POINT):
Meet the following requirements:
a. Adopt policy requiring all new city-operated and/or managed parks and open spaces greater than
2,000 square feet (185 square meters) to achieve SITES or an equally stringent sustainable land
design and development certification.
b. Provide incentives to all private properties achieving SITES or an equally stringent land design
and development certification.
AND/OR
Option 4. Zero Waste Certification (1 point)
PATH 1: PERFORMANCE PATHWAY (1 POINT):
Demonstrate that 10% of city-owned and city-occupied buildings that are greater than 5,000 square feet
(465 square meters) are certified to TRUE.
OR
PATH 2: PRESCRIPTIVE PATHWAY (1 POINT):
Meet the following requirements:
a. Adopt policy requiring at least 25% (by floor area) of city-occupied buildings greater than 5,000
square feet (465 square meters) achieve TRUE or an equally stringent zero waste certification.
b. Provide incentives to the properties achieving TRUE or an equally stringent zero waste
certification.
Notes:
- The rating systems must include an independent third-party review/assessment and build on a
consensus-based development process.
- The registration/certification must remain valid at least through the time of registration for the
LEED Cities program.
- The list of registered and/or certified projects must be publicly available.
