carbon emissions, and congestion associated with single-occupant vehicles.

Comply with any combination of the following options for a maximum of 2 points.
Option 1. Walkability (2 points)
Provide safe and comfortable pedestrian circulation infrastructure in compliance with Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations or relevant national or local regulations for 100% of sidewalks,
pedestrian street crossings, pedestrian signals, and other facilities for pedestrian circulation.
AND
Meet one of the following requirements:
a. Increase the mileage of sidewalks by 5% on arterial and collector roads over a period of 10 years.
Reporting year must be within the last five years.
b. Provide shade with trees or permanent structures more than 40% of the total length of existing
and planned sidewalks. Reporting year must be within the last five years.
c. Design roads with traffic-calming measures as applicable to limit the speed per Section 1.2 in
Traffic Calming ePrimer by the Federal Highway Administration of the U.S. Department of
Transportation or in compliance with the state or local regulations.
