To provide cleaner and affordable electricity by reducing environmental and economic impacts of fossil

fuel use, increasing renewable energy in the grid, and supporting transition to a green economy.

Comply with any combination of the following options for a maximum of 3 points.

Option 1. Renewable Electricity Consumption (1–3 points)

Measure the share of renewable energy/electricity as a percentage of city-wide electricity consumption.

Provide data for a year that is within the last five years. Points are awarded per Table 1.

Procured renewable energy certificates (RECs) must meet the following criteria:

a. RECs must be Green-e Energy certified or equivalent.

b. All environmental attributes associated with renewable energy generation must be retired on

behalf of the city.

c. RECs must be purchased from renewable assets within the same country or region where the city

is located.

d. If RECs are purchased by the utility/energy provider serving multiple cities, these must be

prorated per the city’s annual energy share in the utility’s generation.
