environmentally, economically, and socially preferable life-cycle impacts.

Option 1. Adaptive Reuse (1 point)

Implement an awareness and outreach strategy/policy to promote the adaptive reuse of existing

buildings. Include the following:

a. Awareness of embodied carbon benefits of reuse compared with demolition and new construction

b. Guidance on change of use/occupancy and applicable code pathways

c. Awareness about available zoning/design/permitting flexibility

d. Training/outreach for key stakeholders, such as owners, developers, design professionals, and

permitting staff

AND

Provide financial incentives and/or establish processes to advance building reuse and adaptation, such

as expedited permit review, dedicated permit navigation support, streamlined permitting, or development

fee reductions/waivers.
