An integrated drainage system can combine both traditional and innovative solutions, such as upgrading or expanding existing stormwater systems, like gutters, drains, and culverts, to accommodate larger volumes of water. Other measures include installing permeable pavements and porous materials, as well as integrating sump pumps in basements or lower levels of buildings to prevent water accumulation.

Retrofitting existing structures is another key strategy to enhance building resilience to future flood risks. This process may involve reinforcing foundations, installing flood barriers, and incorporating water-resistant materials to protect critical equipment and prevent water infiltration.
