Leak check and repair Perform leak checks for all refrigerant-containing equipment in the project, including new and existing equipment. Field-installed piping requires vacuum and pressure testing during the installation process per the International Mechanical Code Chapter 11 [39] , EPA Clean Air Act Section 608 [40] , European Union F-Gas Regulations [41], or similar referenced standards.
For existing systems or self-contained systems, leak check inspections may leverage electronic leak detectors, data from the building automation system, visual inspections for oil residue on joints or for bubbling from leaks after applying soapy water, audible detection of hissing or bubbling sounds, and/or pressure testing.
